Received my Ethernet shield

Look what TNT brought me today. The Ethernet Shield I ordered at iPrototype. There were some distribution problems, but iProtoype have send me this board (I already received my other parts in advance) without extra costs. Thanks iPrototype, good service.

So now I can start building things with an network connection. A lot off things come to mind. Maybe the most important one for me: a public service display like I have made with Timothy Parez. called Lumay. The original version is still working at the company I work, but it uses a computer, 19" LCD screen, VGA -splitter, vga to cat5 and has a cost of 600 EURO for each screen. Using Arduino, this should be much cheaper. For this to work I would need: 1 Arduino, 1 Ethernet Shield, 2 LED matrix (32*16) and a Real Time Clock breakout board kit (or maybe not if we use ntp).  Total cost of maybe 130 EURO. Mmm seems a lot cheaper to me.

So before buying all that stuff (Now I already have the arduino en ethernet shield) I'll be making a test case on a small LCD 16x2 screen, like the ones I used for my running man demo It should display time and info scrolling by.
